The Honda PCX is powered by a 125cc liquid-cooled single-cylinder four-stroke engine, with a bore and stroke 52.4mm x 57.9mm. Honda uses for the PCX a SOHC valve train with two valves. Induction is by Honda's own innovative Fuel-Injection system called 'PGM-FI' with automatic enrichment.

An electric starter and Honda's easy-to-use V-Matic automatic transmission make this new scooter a snap to operate. With comfortable seating to accommodate the rider and passenger, plus a surprisingly large under-seat storage area that's big enough to swallow a full-face helmet and more, the Honda PCX serves as an accommodating package that rolls economical transportation and a fun-filled ride all into one.
